SAVVY SHOPPING AT FOOD LION!

Food Lion (in addition to the cheese deal in post below) had some other awesome deals this week!

Did you print out the $1.50 planters coupon from the previous post / contest entry? if so bring them to food lion and reap the rewards of FREE BERRY
& NUT trail mix! they are on sale for $1.49 or FREE after coupon (hint: give them the coupons BEFORE the MVP card or your cashier may get "confused" at what to do about the penny, yea I know its sad , but true)

I also used my $1 off ground beef in conjunction with my $1 off beef coupon from A1
I found some A1 sauce on closeout for $1.32 making it 32 cents after the coupon (since I was already buying the beef) and while I was in the "sauce" area found SEVERAL types of "close out prices" in sauces and marinades for stockpiling . I actually got over $40 in marinades, $6 in beef and the trail mix for a total of $17.80 and am doing a $5 rebate (old offer I had expires 3/31) on the MEAT so $12.80 out of pocket and AGAIN I am STILL way under budget of my $40 a week goal for the year!

When the rebate checks come in I try to ROLL them over to other items that are FREE after rebate or close to it! GOOD LUCK, I hope you get in on these fantastic deals!

Frugal Doings this Week..............

Nothing Like bringing the sunshine indoors! LUV my daffodils
that come up faithfully every year to tell me "Spring is Here!"
This is a view of my St. Patty's Day table.....with GDAS from previous years all around! :)

I bought lots of little "hatchlings" :) at Lowes over the weekend
to save some major $$ on the salads we will be eating up until we plant our summer garden. This is the first year that we have planted cool weather "crops" and I even bought a few things in that I have never heard of before.........one of the salad greens is called "butter" something or another ? anything buttery has got to be good , right?

When the DH planted the garden ...........he was tilling in the composted items that we put in there EVERY YEAR, this is FREE FERTILIZER! We water from the lake so we get extra "minerals" and such from there FREE too! Note the FREEBIE shirt from SCOTT we had last year, you prob. have one too!

SURPRISE we got volunteer spring onions! FREE onions came up from the garden! We are having these tonight with our Grilled cheese and tomato sandwiches! yummmmmmmmmmmmm

3/17 was FREE chicken nugget day at our local CHICK FIL A
if you are local (and / or a facebook friend of mine) you read about this event and maybe even went out and got some yourself? Faith and I went so we got 2 freebies, One was her dinner last night and the other was LUNCH BOX packing! :)
can you say FREE LUNCH? didn't even pay tax!

SAY CHEESE! I paid 76cents for 12 bags of cheese and a 4 pack of yogurt! how? FOOD LION has shredded cheese 2/$5
and there was a coupon "thinggy" with pull out coupons for b1g1f at our food lion. When you bought 5+ you automatically saved $5 at the register ......... or $2.88 for 6 bags (MVP CARD)
I got a free coupon for the yogurt when buying the first 6. I saw the LONG expiration date on the cheese and decided to stop at the next food lion to get 6 more + yogurt on the way to pick up faith (no extra gas money spent) TOTAL OUT OF POCKET was $5.76

SEE THE FORM ON THE LEFT? the one with the SHAMROCK on it?
that is a form from GUINESS BEER, I found it on a display in my food lion. it is a MEAT OR CHEESE rebate for $5 on the purchase of $5.01+ of meat or CHEESE! Send in the rec'ts and get $5 back ...........
so the total for the CHEESE AND YOGURT out of pocket is on ly 76cents when all is said and done!

The other form you see in the pic is $6 rebate on Fresh or Frozen Seafood
(must pay $10+ in seafood to get rebate from Bud Light/Lime) I was able to get 2 free packages of Frozen Talapia from an online offer we did a while back on Facebook. SEACUISINE............. my husband and I both did it , it was 1 per person / facebook account and limited to first "so many" sign ups. While I was at Kroger picking this up I also picked up 3 bottles of my favorite hard to find VINO on sale and 2 packages of yellow rice from mahatma (99cents -50cents coupon /doubled = free) I paid $56.61 for 2 packages of talapia , 2 pk. of rice and 3 bottles of my favorite wine (reg. $22 a bottle) and will be getting back $6 on the purchase! $50.61 total

My budget is usually $40 a week and If you check the weeks prior to this one you will see that I was under for most of the month and stockpiled in many areas. Normally I do not count alcohol or wine in my budget but this time , with little to buy this week I was able to wrap it ALL IN ONE and STAY UNDER BUDGET for the month! woooooooohoooooooo
oh yea , did I mention we will be using lots of cheese in the future? LOL

75% off the SUGAR KISS cosmetic line ! WILL SELL OUT

MINIMUM ORDER is $15.00 but WOOOOOOAHHHHHH that is for $60 worth of product!

$40 a Week Food Menu / Shopping list

Food Lion Shopping today for my weekly $40 and under "main trip"
as you can see I filled in the blanks again this week for way under $40

THIS WEEK SO FAR .........TOTAL COST $31.89

This week I shopped at Food Lion (and will be going out again this week)...and yes we met our budget , stockpiled and will eat well again this week for under $40! this is feeding 3 of us, but could easily feed 4, you will note that many weeks my "shopping list" is extremely long and other weeks very short........one would think "why do you need all of that?" or "how can you make a weeks worth of groceries with that?" once you are a bonafide "freelancer" it will become very clear how this works.......... for now
it may be a bit confusing if you are a newbie. BE PATIENT YOU CAN DO THIS!

ANJIE NOTE: I budget about $40 a week to feed my family. It must be noted that I am a BIG stockpiler of items, buy thru many different venues and use what I have by cooking creatively. I supplement my week of groceries by going out to eat 1x per week and ordering pizza at least every other week........... I do not have to do this because I usually have plenty I could eat at home, but I choose to do this and do that with coupons and gc as well when possible.

20 oz pepsi max (always treat myself to a soda/coffee etc while I shop)
2 - bounce dry cleaning sheets (these were on closeout, great price)
Palmolive dish liquid (close out price)
Tilapia Fish Fillets (3 lbs)
Coffee Mate - french vanilla
Breyers inspiration yogurt
Folgers gourmet
2- Sandwich thins
2 - Kashi Go Lean Crunch
Digiorno frozen Cheese Pizza

TOTAL SAVINGS $54.76 (coupons / catalina / mvp)

***as you can see many items listed in menu are NOT what I bought this week. That is because I also do a PANTRY CHALLENGE as to not let the items I have stockpiled go to waste.

Nothing says Warm Weather like............. Anjie's Ice Tea

ICED TEA! and I my family is a fan! This is my TEA cabinet in which I put my "special" tea that is bought, gifted and free samples into.....I have a variety as you can see. I don't drink Hot Tea but I sure love ICED TEA when the weather "breaks." I learned to make ICED TEA "THE RIGHT WAY" in New Orleans. Growing up my mother made INSTANT with LEMON (bleck.......... bleck bleck) I thought I'd died and gone to heaven when I tasted the REAL THING.

There is NO comparison. In the Grocery store I like to buy LIPTON, TETLEY & LUZIANNE and buy them when on sale and if possible when I have a coupon. I also buy Tea on Line.
I buy a variety of types but this is what I put together this time.............

For lent, I decided to give up SUGAR among other "white" things LOL .................and whoever heard of SWEETENED ICED TEA without the SUGAR? This pitcher of tea was made without anyone in the house, do you think they noticed? NOPE they drank the tea in a DAY and said "when ya gonna make more?"

I had gotten (you prob. did too) a 4 pack of Lipton Green Tea Samples in the snail mail that was in my tea cabinet. I paired that with some MELON TEA that I ordered from
HERE
if you are newbie to the site you can sign up for a $5 GC below............ ***MAKE SURE TO USE A RELIABLE EMAIL OR YOU MAY NOT GET THIS (I recommend a gmail address)
they have GREAT SAMPLES in tins of loose tea and more..........

If you are making an order, make sure to update to include your birthday (see icon on bottom of page) to get a FREE sample of your ZODIAC tea included with your order. I ordered some new sample tins this a.m. but unfortunately they were out of banana and pineapple (so that wilol be a future order) I did get tropical, coconut and cucumber tho! :) doing the happy dance THE SAMPLE PACK will be more than enuff for the recipe below
it is $2 shipping is $3.95 you can get 3 samples shipped for $4.95 with the GC and the tins are great and reusable! :)

RECIPE FOR THE BEST SUMMER SWEETENED ICED TEA YOU EVER TASTED (that didn't include sugar!)

4 bags of Lipton Green Tea
1.5 TBL of MELON TEA (loose)
2/3 cup of SUCCULENT HONEY
lg. SQUIRT of BLUE AGAVE
DASH of TRUE LEMON

USE A COFFEE FILTER in your COFFEE MAKER and put the tea bags and loose tea into it.
Measure 8 cups of water and pour into coffee maker reserve. Measure out Honey and put in the coffee caraffe. Brew as you would coffee and immediately stir with a wooden spoon to dissolve all granules. Let this sit for about 15 minutes to "brew" Put Ice in 2 quart pitcher put a dash or two of the real lemon onto the ice. Squirt (to taste) the agave. pour tea over the flavored ice and stir until dissolved. TASTE TEST it to make sure sweetened or tart to your liking. IF NOT add a bit more agave or true lemon. Mine turned out perfect the first time! :) POUR OVER ICE IN MASON JAR this is very important, it tastes better this way! :)

TRUE LEMON SAMPLES STILL AVAILABLE: (please mention that ANJIE the frugal freelancer sent ya) GO HERE
you can also sign up to be a PRODUCT tester, I have gotten some FULL SIZED freebies for this! Freelancebyu and subbers were chosen as a SUPER FAN for this site a while back ! what a great company! Free "Gifting" playing "elf" and ideas for Raok

One of the wonderful things about "freebies" and being a SAVINGS SPECIALIST or ELF is that you can frequently participate in RAOK (randome acts of kindness) without puttin you in the poor house.  You can share and help others even in you thought you couldn't afford to do so.  One RAOK was done for me this week.  One of my local friends put together the little garden you see in the top shelf of my kitchen window..... it is ADORABLE!  She also told me how to take care of it and hopefully it will be BEAUTIFUL as it grows....I tend to over water the cacti family plants so wish me luck! :)

If you looked closely in the LOOT pic I posted on previous post  you wil see a couple of "gifted" to me items. Envie from Sherry and Goodie box from Allison.  I frequently get goodies from other freelancers that cannot use things (everything from sunday paper coupons to items that were saved from the dump) to regift to others that may can use them.    I love this and often bring  or ship those smiles across the miles....... I have shipped literally all over the country, donated & supported people and organizations locally and globally.  It is a blessing to be able to do this....as you see I come from VERY humble beginnings.

here you see several things..... A contest waiting to happen with tornados free coupons and shirts (stay tuned for more info)

a box being packed to share, coupons, samples and notecards all getting ready to be regifted to others.  These boxes will go out to someone with a note to pass along what they cannot use with others,  or PAY IT FORWARD

Special Occasions.  this year for Kelly's 22nd bday , the DH and I were able to get her tickets to see the BEP , 2 of them .  She and a friend went to see them live and had a ball.  I was lucky enuff to also get in on .....this $7 shirt GDA from LiveNation shortly after the contest so I bought 3 of them .... one for her and one for her to share with her buddies,  I was able to use PAYPAL which is basically funded with FREE money from my multi sources of income!

MAGAZINES.....i get a plethora of free & almost free magazines. I have gifted them, upcycled them into bows, donated them, brought them to  offices and even freecycled them.  this hearty stack of magazines is going to my local tanning salon.  The NEED them desparately.........  I just have to take my name off them and they will be ready to be shared.  WHAT AN EASY & CHEAP way to spread a smile! :)

There are all kinds of ways to be KIND.  Most of the time it only takes a few minutes and /or little money to make a person smile or change their mood or even help them make ends meet.  I try to spread the wealth as far as I can.   JOIN ME in my quest and practice RAOK every chance you get...you may make a new friend in the process! :)

Powhatan Town Planner is FREE and you $ave lotsa money

This is the 2010 Town Planner AKA Powhatan Calendar. I got one free at the beginning of the year at going postal. I got another one the other day FREE at the County Administration building when I went to pay my annual $50 for my business license. I love the calendar for the coupons.... WOW! A lot of my favorite restaurants are featured at the very very least. I share the ones I can't use

with those that can. In case this is something you have overlooked or missed, do not delay! I have already used 2 of the El Cerro Azul coupons (one for me and one for a friend) in the last week.....what is there for you?

The Calendar is printed and distributed throughout Powhatan by our Great Chamber of Commerce!

In the Kitchen : Recipe Book and Sandwich Thins

Here is one of my newest additions to my cookbook collection the kitchen , sitting beside a couple of recent snail mail freebies (adkins carb counter, recipe cards,  and olympics commemorative stamps)  I am going through piles of paperwork and trying to make sure everything has a "home" and is put in its proper place or gifted , shared etc.

RECIPE BOOK can be purchased HERE search for item 0705342964  my particular one is this same one except mine happens to be blue (it was gifted to me and I love it) but ya know I also really love this red one too! :)  now............I love the book its quality and I am working to transfer some of my favorites into this book from my head and clippings of the tried and true + what ever I feel you guys request the most! :)

One of my GREAT recent freebies was the opportunity to do a house party for sandwich thins.  Not only are the houseparties a great way to have fun, make friends and try new things but often they inspire you to do other things as well.  One of the goodies from the house party was recipe cards to set out so that your guests could take preprinted recipe cards and also write down recipes they were interested in.   I had some leftover cards so they ended up in my "pile" of things to do something with.   (TO SEE PICS OF THE PARTY GO HERE I do believe you will be able to see them?)

I share my "dinners" from time to time on FB with my friends and networking buddies.  I am often asked for the recipes of the meals that I mention or take photos of.  I have started writing them down (many of them are in my head only) and adding them to a book, once I collect enuff of your requested recipes maybe I will make one of those "do it yourself" cookbooks.......for ya .most of the work and photography will already be done!  The houseparty provided $1 off coupons for future purchases and they were on sale at food lion for $2.50 what a deal!

DINNER:   sesame ginger turkey smothered with melted smoked gouda, served on multigrain sandwich thins, garnished with fresh spinach, onions, frenchs brown mustard and onion/pepper relish. Side of sweet potato chips and a big ole ray of sunshine

REMEMBER I shop for $40 a week or less.....and I think I eat like a queen!

Fishful thinking and Teens

Middle Schoolers are "fishful thinking" with their chedder Goldfish by Pepperidge Farms!

My stepdaughter, Faith is the "center" of attention in the pic and at lunch with the goldfish that were recently shared with them due to my applying for the Ambassador program that I shared the opportunity with you back in September. I hope you signed up?

I

I dont know about your middleschooler but ours is often too busy socializing to worry about eating at all , much less something that is 1/2 way good for her.....

Several weeks before I rec'vd the big box of lunchtime/ snack sized goldfish,  I was sent the brochures and nutritional information sheets .   I asked my stepdaughter, Faith, to share the goldfish with her friends and to lmk what their reaction was.  They sent me this picture in the gym to "show me!"    Next they want to know what flavor I am going to let them try next! :)   They promise to document their happiness........hm .......... I don't think this group is shy at all , do you ?

There is something for Everyone on the sites.......Nutrition, products, health, information, ideas, coupons etc etc......

For kids aged 6-13 there is a Fishful Thinking contest HERE that you can enter 1x per day

You can FAN the fishful thinking program and find out more about the opportunities if you sign up for the newsletter and/or facebook page

SAVVY SHOPPING: CVS & WAGS

Cleaned up some PILES today..........for some frugal doings which lead to an impromptu shopping trip so at least a "few" of the good deals wouldn't expire.  Its sometimes is hard to let them go by (even when you are FULL from stockpiling) especially when you are gong to MAKE money by taking items out of the store.

I was taking a picture of this weeks "loot" for facebook  One of my great "in person" friends was filling out some freebies from just my facebook postings and commented once after a few weeks that he had not rec'vd ANY of the freebies he signed up for.  (You know how when you first start  it seems like you never are going to get anything?) I started taking pictures of my "pile" or "loot" that I accumulated in a weeks time to show him, "YES VIRGINIA there is a Santa Claus"!

I made a few boxes to send "out" to others, that I cannot use.  Freelancing friends are generous and send me things they cannot use, I in turn REGIFT them when I can't use , either to a business, organization, person, friend, freecycle, expired to military etc etc............ I saw several things I needed to DO NOW or would go to waste, that no one would be able to use........ so I grabbed my keys and headed out of the door.

After coupons, rebates, discounts and extra care bucks I got all that you see and will come out $5+ richer after all is said and done.  Many of the items you see will be used in next weeks menus and other things will be gifted, crafted, shared or consumed. Cool eh?
